The Ashland Chamberfs annual 4th of July Community Celebration is right around the corner! The Ashland Chamber is thrilled to bring you a community celebration with a theme that celebrates amazing youth in our community.

Our 2024 Grand Marshals are Ember Richards and Avalon Gerk, Ashlandfs Kid Mayors. Ember Richards is an incoming 5th grader at TRAILS Outdoor School and Avalon is an incoming freshman at Ashland High School. While Ember will be in Vienna, Austria with the Siskiyou Violins on the 4th of July, we look forward to celebrating both young people as our Grand Marshals this year in the parade.

Ashland's 4th of July celebration will kick off with the 4th of July Run, coordinated by Ashland Parks & Recreation, scheduled to start at 7:45 a.m. Registration information at ashlandoregon.gov/JulyRun. The public can expect street closures on Oak St to Eagle Mill Rd from about 7:15 to 9 a.m. to facilitate the race.

The parade officially begins at 10 a.m. With over 50 entries, it is sure to be a fun event this year. The jets will fly over between 10 and 10:15 a.m. on their route through the 4th of July celebrations in southern Oregon. After the parade, head to Lithia Park. On the way, grab lunch at one of Ashlandfs local restaurants or a food booth in Lithia Park. The Ashland YMCA and Ashland Aerial Arts will have activities and performances for families on the front lawn of Lithia Park across from Skout. The Lithia Artisans Market will be set up on the front lawn and you can visit the local non-profits, crafters, food vendors and more who participate in the 4th of July booth activities in the park. Stroll up to the Butler Memorial Bandshell on Winburn Way for musical entertainment all afternoon. A full schedule will be posted to ashlandchamber.com in the coming days.

July 4th parade spectators are asked not to place chairs, blankets, and other placeholders on public property prior to 6 a.m. on the morning of July 3.

Public property includes the median on Siskiyou Blvd, park rows and sidewalks of Siskiyou Blvd, East Main St, the Plaza and other public areas. Chairs and blankets should not block sidewalks, plastic tarps may not be placed on grass and all items should be secured to prevent them from blowing out of place. Only blue painter tape may be used on the sidewalks. Other tapes leave a residue that is extremely difficult to clean.

Please be respectful of othersf property and of the fact that the space directly in front of a private residence along Siskiyou Blvd is under the control and responsibility of the homeowner.

Spectators place items at their own risk. Items which create a safety hazard for pedestrians or vehicles will be picked up and disposed of.

Please remove all chairs, tape, trash, blankets and personal items after the parade.

Donft forget that retail fireworks that are legal throughout much of Oregon are not permitted to be used in Ashland (including most varieties sold just outside the city limits). Violations of the fireworks law are a Class I violation and can include fines up to $500. However, there are three items that Ashland residents may legally use: smoke bombs, snakes and party poppers. The use of any spark-producing item which causes a fire is always prohibited.

In the evening, the American Band College will hold their annual Pops show at the Ashland High School stadium at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at bandworld.org and can be purchased in advance or on site.

With the heightened fire risk in the Ashland community, increased insurance costs for large public events and the fireworks company no longer producing small shows like ours on holidays, the Ashland Chamber will not be putting on a public fireworks display. The Chamber board is looking toward alternative activities for the evening of the 4th for future years. If you'd like to participate on this sub-committee, contact Dana Preston at dana@ashlandchamber.com
