Britt Bee: Announcements

Britt Bee Education News - March 2023

Dear Arts Education Fans,

We are certainly getting 6 more weeks of winter, as predicted by Filbert the Beaver at the Oregon Zoo! The snow hasn't slowed us down a bit - we're visiting 15 classrooms this month, all before Spring Break. We hope everyone's winter term wraps up well, and you all have a great break. We look forward to seeing you next term!

Dr. Terry Longshore Terry is bringing his flexible and engaging percussion program to several elementary school classrooms in Jackson and Josephine counties this week. Dr. Longshore holds master’s and doctoral degrees in Contemporary Music Performance from the University of California, San Diego. His education includes significant study of Spanish flamenco and the classical music of India, including study at the Ali Akbar College of Music. Jača

Residency Rewind — Jača

We had a stupendous time with Jača earlier this month, visiting music classes at Phoenix, Crater, and Grants Pass High Schools. Students were riveted to the presentations and asked many insightful questions of the artists. Guitar Society of Southern Oregon also presented them in a scintillating concert at Grizzly Peak Winery. We can't wait to have this duo back in our valley!

BFO - Erich Heckscher & Jennifer Nelson

BFO - Erich Heckscher & Jennifer Nelson

Band and orchestra students had the unique opportunity of receiving coaching from our BFO Principal Bassoon and former Principal Clarinet last week. Erich and Jennifer visited North Valley, North Medford, and Ashland High Schools, and Hanby Middle School, performing some of their duet repertoire and working with students on their concert and competition literature. We were all very impressed with the students' creative questions and their performances!
