Dear Arts Education Fans,

Happy New Year and welcome to the first Britt Bee of 2023! We all hope you had wonderful holidays with family and friends, and a good start to the new year. We can't wait to share what we have planned, so keep reading to learn all about the FREE programs coming your way this month!

Fellowship Applications Are Now Open!
James M. Collier Orchestral Fellowships 2023

Applications for our Britt Festival Orchestra Fellowship Program are now being accepted for the 2023 season. Under the mentorship of Fellowship Program Director, Alexandra Preucil, fellows will rehearse and perform as part of the Britt Festival Orchestra, form a string quartet and create a chamber program to perform in the southern Oregon community, and create a concert for younger children to be performed as part of our popular BrittKids Koncert series.

Fellowship program dates are June 9 through July 2, 2023

Each fellow is provided with a stipend of $1,300 for living expenses, a travel reimbursement of $750 (cartage assistance provided for cellists), and housing during the fellowship program dates.

The application deadline is March 1, 2023 and Fellowship positions will be awarded no later than April 1, 2023.

NEW Limited Edition Video Series!
"Earth Music Odyssey"

Created by regular Britt Education artist Nell Geisslinger and her creative partner Kevin O’Briant, this six-part series introduces students in grades 3 and up to musicians who live and work right here in Oregon. The series features extraterrestrial puppet hosts, interviews with musicians, world music and related terminology presented in an entertaining and accessible way. Look for a new episode each month from January through June in the BrittKids Klub e-Blast!

January Residency - Anna Leunis & Petros Karapetyan

As part of our ongoing commitment to connect Britt Festival Orchestra (BFO) musicians to our local students during the school year, Britt will bring violinists Petros Karapetyan and Anna Leunis into rural K-8 classrooms this month. Petros studied at the Universidad Autónoma de Aguascalientes, before earning his Performance Certificate at the Eastman School of Music and his Masters of Music in Violin Performance at Rice University. Anna is an alumnist of the Yale School of Music and currently serves on the violin faculty at the Neighborhood Music School, among other institutions. Both teach and perform at festivals across the globe, and are passionate about early music education.

Astro Adventures Blast Off This Month!

Join Scout, Flora, Bunmi, Bearto, and Phineas the Frog each month as they zoom from planet to planet meeting amazing aliens and exchanging fun facts and techniques about music, drawing, painting, sculpting, and other awesome ways to be creative!

New Astro Adventures, including a comic strip and coloring sheets, will be released each month in Scout's E-blast starting this January!
