A message from the Jackson County Library Foundation

We want to highlight some of the unique programs our libraries provide and how the Library Foundation supports them.  The Foundation and Jackson County Library Services work together to make sure all 15 library communities have an equal opportunity to enjoy the library experience.  In fact, no place in a community is so totally democratic as the town library (Lady Bird Johnson).

The Foundation’s current priorities of support are: enhancing technology, early literacy, programs, and upgrading library spaces.  We think you will find the expanding world of the Jackson County Library most interesting!

State–of–the–art technology is brought to all corners of the county, especially those lacking internet access and computers.  The DART (Digital Access to Resources and Technology) van, as it’s called, brings free Wi-Fi, ‘How-To’ services for users of Libby and Hoopla, and connections to summer reading programs.  And, for those of us who are technologically challenged, the Digital Service Specialists help patrons make technology work for them.

The following programs concentrate on early literacy and lifelong learning, in addition to a range of other offerings.

Programs Supported by the Library Foundation

• Take-and-Make activity kits for all ages

• Outreach to childcare delivers books and story time events to children 0-5 around the county

• Baby’s first book puts books in the hands of babies to incite a love of lifelong learning

• Rogue Reads community read program engages our county in connection through one book each winter

• The business librarian helps budding entrepreneurs and seasoned business owners

• At Home Services connects otherwise isolated patrons with books, videos, games

And finally, a favorite is the Library of Things where one can check out instant pots, metal detectors, fishing poles, games and so much more!

The teamwork between Library Services and the Library Foundation richly helps us all!

The Central Point and White City Libraries have an inviting, ultramodern Spark Space.  These are STEM-focused play area that captures the imagination of kids and teens.  Additionally, the library provides a center to help students with homework.

Most importantly, we have seen how critical it is to connect patrons with the community and each other.  During the last three years, the libraries have responded to the acute challenges and needs of our communities.

Jackson County Library Services will continue to provide quality programs, and, with people like you, the Jackson County Library Foundation will continue to give financial support to enhance these programs.  Our future is bright because of the time talents, donations, and ideas of people just like you.

We value your gifts. Consider a donation today and enjoy your part in making it all happen!

Our warmest appreciation for your support,

The Jackson County Library Foundation
