Sea and Sky

This month's exhibition at Fiber Arts Collective features sea life prints by Jay Gordon. After extensive forays in both music and medicine, Jay made the decision to devote her learning to drawing and painting. Since then, she has constantly experimented with different forms such as portraiture, still life, illustration, and printmaking.

Bonnie Morgan and Cheryl Kempner

Currently featured at Ashland Art Works are metal sculptures by Bonnie Morgan and ceramic sculptures by Cheryl Kempner. Creating metal forms as a result of the Almeda Wildfire, Bonnie has developed a strong relationship with her use of materials to create bold, clean, and unique forms as a result of incorporating fire into her process. Alternatively, Cheryl combines the delicate softness of clay and the hard elements associated with metal to create something that is both fun and whimsical.

Randall David Tipton and John/Robin Gumaelius
Currently featured at Hanson Howard Gallery are vibrant and explorative paintings by Randall David Tipton and highly inventive sculptures by John and Robin Gumaelius. Referring to memory as a primary source in his process, Randall uses distortion, radical simplification, and heightened color to create landscapes that are more about experience than physicality. Alternatively, John and Robin combine both skill and imagination to build a singular and unusual world out of clay and metal to form highly inventive sculptures that are often comical or bizarre.
