We Are Making a Movie | Nick Alexander Films
This is a full length feature film that highlights the life of Judge Marylin Atkins, a long standing judge in the district of Detroit who has faced many obstacles in the form of racism. She is black and her late husband is white. When they got married no one wanted them to be together and in some states it was illegal! However, they persevered loving one another and creating a beautiful and successful interracial family. The goal behind this film is to fight racism and to instill hope for interracial couples and families across the United States. This story has already been made into
a book and we believe that it will make for an amazing documentary.
This Sunday, June 12th, is the 55th anniversary of Loving Day. When The Supreme Court struck down laws that banned interracial marriage. And this weekend we are beginning our campaign to launch this movie.
The launch will be hosted by Judge Marylin Atkins and her daughter, who is a resident of the Rogue Valley, at the Pony Espresso in downtown Ashland, 175 Lithia Way, on Sunday June 12th, from 1pm to 4pm.
