Dear Fellow Foodies:
 
If you would like caviar for this Mother's day, please call the store 541-708-6262 by Tuesday May 4th to place your order. If we don't have enough interest, we will skip ordering this holiday.
 
The Pasta Machines are back in stock as well as the Semolina flour from Italy. Towards the end of this month, fingers crossed, we will be getting more Provencal Linens back in stock. We currently have a wide selection, but will be getting more.
 
Newest Vegan items are HealthPunk Smoked Harissa and UFO Sauce. The UFO sauce is a blend of tomato, peppers, garlic and so many more organic things to create an amazing sauce in a tube! Easy to transport, easy to use, easy to store. We dipped fries in it as well as Scotch Eggs (shhhhh don't tell my Vegan friends).
 
Any Yuzu fans out there? The Yuzu Marmelade is back as well as a new item, Yuzu Mayonnaise. So much more is coming in. We hope to see you soon in our shop.
 
The Copper Gratin Pans are on the way to us. Also, we will be getting in a new line of ginger graters and Japanese Tamagoyaki Pans. These rolled omlettes are fun and quite delicious. Served with unique Shoyu you'll never go back to plain egg omlettes again.
 
 
 
I'm sure many of you feel the same way I do and can't wait to have people over to your house or to go to friends homes for a dinner. Not a casual thing, but a real dinner where you start with an appetizer, have a soup or salad and an entree and make a dessert that isn't meant to keep for weeks in your freezer. A dinner where it is meant to be consumed that night and not so you have leftovers for the rest of the week for lunches. Nothing utilitarian but a fun, laughter filling the dining room, candle lit dinner using your cool new dishes you just bought. We'll get there everyone. In the meantime, keep practicing your bread techniques, dessert techniques and dream of those dinners
 
We are still open to the public every day from 11am until 5pm. Unlike shopping on your computer, we are here to answer any questions and help you with recipes. The whole idea of tech is to take all the humanity out of experiences. We are here to bring the human element back into the shopping experience. You will be able to view items in person and hold them in your hand before buying. David and I have worked very hard to bring in top quality items that will be your or your families and friends' favorites for years to come.

Breakfast Casserole
 
This is an easy make ahead recipe that can be changed to your different tastes. Don't like Onion? Try garlic. Not a meat fan, use mushrooms. You understand. It is basically a savory bread pudding. We liked to serve this with a small side salad since it is very rich.
 
You will need an 11X17" baking proof dish, buttered
 
  • 1 pound Bacon - cooked well and cut into small pieces or/ 2 cups crimini mushrooms cut into quarters and cooked until brown
  • 1 small yellow onion, minced
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground Aleppo pepper
  • 1 Tablespoon Harissa
  • 1 Baguette - cut into small cubes
  • 1 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (reserve 1/2 cup to sprinkle on top.)
 
  1. Cook your mushrooms or bacon until browned and set aside.
  2. Cook the onion until lightly brown and add to mushrooms or bacon -reserve
  3. Cut your bread into cubes and place into large bowl
  4. Mix your eggs with your spices and Milk
  5. Mix your bread, onion, mushrooms (or bacon) and 1 cup of cheddar cheese.
  6. Add the eggs to the bread mixture. Then place into your buttered baking dish
  7. Allow to absorb the egg mixture for 30 minutes while your oven heats.
  8. Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of cheddar cheese on top of the casserole.
  9. Bake your casserole for 35 minutes at 350F or until golden brown.
  10. Allow to cool slightly and cut into squares.
  11. Serve while hot or warm.
