SOS is a nonprofit outdoor supplier operated by Siskiyou Mountain Club, a 501(c)(3) public charity established in 2010. All proceeds go to our own trail crews who maintain 400 miles of trails we have adopted across Southwest Oregon and Northwest California.
Above all, this is a community store staffed by knowledgeable professionals who offer the best available advice for customers and members who want to get outside for anything. Whether they’re looking for a beautiful pullout to have a picnic, a weekend campout with the family, an easy day hike, a tough day hike, or a short or long backpacking trip, we aim to get the community out onto their public lands through offering tailored advice along with the maps and other resources it takes to enjoy the great outdoors.
We maintain an active events calendar that includes day hikes, overnight and multi-day backpacking trips, volunteer trips, as well as clinics like our Backpackers Academy.
That comes with a carefully curated selection of gear, trail supplies, books and trail maps. Our field staff spend 100s of nights backpacking in the wilderness every year, and we use their advice and insight to select what items we carry. We also have a collection of field guides, natural history books, regional curiosities, as well as a collection of local wilderness maps we design and issue.
