“OSF has in fact employed countless Ashland High School students as actors, stage crew, sound and lighting technicians, Green Show stage managers, and in the business office in graphics and publicity. But whether or not they make a career in the theatre, Betsy cares deeply about shepherding all of her students to have a positive experience with the arts that will stick with them for life. From the straight A student heading to an Ivy League school to the teen facing so many challenges at home that they are barely staying afloat, Betsy gives of herself to help each one find a positive and affirming place at Ashland High. As the parent of a high school student ( who was) under her care, I have seen personally the magic she is able to work in the shyest and most reticent of students who may dream of a career in the theatre but never would have thought it was possible. She is truly one in a million.”

Oregon Shakespeare Festival 2007-2019
Ashland High School Theatre has provided a rich performing arts program for our community in theatre, dance, music and song. Since 1988, AHS Theatre has been in partnership with the Oregon Shakespeare Festival offering their directing and designing skills as well as mentorships and classes. Each year, over 20 theatre professionals are involved in their productions. AHS Theatre students go on to work on Broadway, OSF and regional theatres as actors, technicians, designers and directors. Students have been honored on the state and national level consistently over the last 2 decades. Current students and graduates have worked on stage at OSF as well as backstage in the Green Show. More than 25 graduates of AHS Theatre program have worked professionally at OSF. The tradition of excellence continues.
