“The richness of the Klamath-Siskiyou is incredible, it’s in our back yard, but it’s not something sadly that we can take for granted. It is something we have to work every day to protect. There are threats from logging, from suction dredging in the rivers, from mining, and KS Wild is doing the hard work every day that we need to protect our region.” ~ Pepper Trail

“I can't bear to think that man would be allowed to disrupt the priceless beauty of such a rare ecosystem. KS Wild rocks!” ~ Carmen Burgess
The Klamath-Siskiyou Wildlands Center (KS Wild) is an advocate for the forests, wildlife and waters of the Klamath and Rogue River Basins of southwest Oregon and northwest California. We use environmental law, science, collaboration, education and grassroots organizing to defend healthy ecosystems and help build sustainable communities.

Formed in 1997, KS Wild fights for protection and restoration of the incomparable ecological riches of southwest Oregon and northwest California.  We monitor public lands in the Rogue River/Siskiyou, Klamath, Six Rivers and Shasta-Trinity National Forests, and the Medford and Coos Bay Districts of the Bureau of Land Management.

The forests of the Klamath Siskiyou Mountains are some of the most diverse and biologically rich in the world. Clear streams still flow here. Old-growth still towers here. Salmon still spawn here. Rare wildflowers still bloom here. These forest wildland still offer renewal and adventure.

The rivers of the Klamath-Siskiyou provide a refuge for wild salmon, clean water for communities and extraordinary recreational opportunities. Largely defined by the Rogue River watershed in the north (where our Rogue Riverkeeper program works) and the Klamath River watershed in the south, the Klamath-Siskiyou region also includes the Trinity, Upper Sacramento, Smith and Chetco Rivers.

The region’s rivers are fondly memorialized in literature and movies and many are federally recognized as “Wild and Scenic Rivers,” including portions or the Trinity, Klamath, North Fork Smith, Chetco, Illinois, Elk and Rogue Rivers. These rivers offer world-class fishing, boating, rafting and hiking opportunities.
