In just a few short years, the Ashland Food Project has become integral to our work at the Ashland Emergency Food Bank (AEFB).  Green bags supply more than a third of our total food donations.  Constant and predictable Ashland Food Project contributions allow us to manage our food supplies and ensure that we can serve the flow of folks asking for help.  In addition to the individuals who come to our doors, we distribute food to other community organizations that serve those in need, including Uncle Food’s Diner and the Catalyst Program at Ashland High School.  We are so grateful for our partnership with AFP.  Signed: Greg Lemhouse, Board Chair and Pam Marsh, Food Bank Manager

The Ashland Food Project is a revolutionary way to collect food: It's a donor drive, not a food drive.  Instead of asking for one-time contributions of food, our volunteers (Neighborhood Coordinators) enlist their neighbors to become long-term Food Donors.

Neighbors donate a bag of food every two months. It's incredibly easy, because we supply the bright green bag…and we pick up the food and deliver it to the Ashland Emergency Food Bank! This provides the Food Bank with a steady, year-round supply of food…and provides donors with the ongoing satisfaction of making a real difference. They also get to know their neighbors, which builds a powerful sense of community. So everyone wins.
