“WE OWN IT. WE RUN IT. WE LOVE IT!”
This sums up the way Mountain Meadows residents feel about our unique, award-winning, 55+ community. Mountain Meadows, situated amid the natural beauty and cultural bounty of the Rogue Valley in Southern Oregon, is home to caring and vibrant people, some retired, some still working, who embrace their active lifestyle, their independence, and their zest for lifelong learning. Unlike most retirement communities owned and run by corporations, at Mountain Meadows, our homes are all individually owned (rentals permitted), and the owners run the community. Many of our residents are also active in the larger Ashland Community, including politics and theatre, and many instruct and/or attend OLLI classes for seniors at Southern Oregon University.
At Mountain Meadows music and the arts are important parts of daily life. Several times a month, we host local musicians and entertainers, and we provide a four-year music scholarship to the local university. The Mountain Meadows community has numerous avenues for involvement. Committees, task forces, interest groups and many activities allow residents a wide range of opportunities for interaction and involvement. We don’t need an Activities Director. We organize our own activities.
Mountain Meadows is located about 1.5 miles from the center of Ashland on a 27-acre site with 226 residential units consisting of 65 single-family homes and 161 condominium units. Our resident count is about 270. The Mountain Meadows Owners’ Association (MMOA) is the overall governing organization of our community. Debt-free and with a healthy reserve fund, MMOA owns and maintains the community common areas including the Clubhouse and Meadowlark Dining Room, fitness center, library, community garden, community parks and landscaped areas that conserve water with drought-resistant plants. MMOA is dedicated to providing an environment that will continue to attract, retain and nurture active, independent retirees and soon-to-be retirees, while maintaining property values and controlling cost growth. Our Board of Directors is elected by the owners and oversees a professional management company that provides day-to-day onsite management.
