Rogue Valley Genealogical Society
The Rogue Valley Genealogical Society (RVGS) is an all volunteer, non-profit organization founded in 1966 and located in Medford, Oregon. With over 500 members, the society promotes family history research by providing educational and research opportunities at the Rogue Valley Genealogical Society Library and through our website
rvgslibrary.org. The mission of RVGS is to inspire interest in genealogy, inform the public, and maintain a growing sustainable library with a strong online presence.
The Rogue Valley Genealogical Society Library has an extensive collection of birth, marriage, and death records; family histories, books, bulletins, cemetery records, obituaries, local maps, microfilm and microfiche, and newspaper abstracts for every state and many countries. Our website, rvgslibrary.org, provides a growing number of searchable databases for Jackson County and an online library catalog of over 25,000 other resources. Non-members may use the library for a fee of $5.00 per day.
Our library has patron computers with subscriptions to Ancestry, Fold3, MyHeritage, FindMyPast, American Ancestors, HistoryGeo, NewspaperArchive, and Newspapers.com Oregon Edition. Because we are a Family History Affiliate Library, patrons have accessed to locked content on the FamilySearch website. Wireless Internet access is available for those who bring their own device.
Free and reduced-price genealogy classes, programs, workshops, and seminars are offered regularly and are posted on our website calendar at rvgslibrary.org. Classes include offerings such as beginning genealogy, library use, software use, and subscription website use. In addition, a variety of user and interest groups sponsored by RVGS meet regularly.
Membership is available to all interested persons for just $40 a year. A second household member can join for an additional $15. Membership privileges include:
- Free use of library
- Volunteer opportunities
- Reduced fees or free genealogy classes
- Check out of materials
- Subscription websites

RVGS membership provides a meaningful way to give back to the society and help other researchers. The membership fees help to fund a variety of the Society’s historical record collections and preservation projects. Our members also help to maintain our library, research facilities, and website content.
