About Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home
History
In 1934 Clarence Litwiller opened the doors of Litwiller Funeral Home in downtown Ashland near the Plaza. Clarence was later joined by his son, Gene and grandson Randy in the family operation of a funeral home, ambulance service and a wedding chapel. They moved the business to its current location in the mid 60’s to continue a tradition of care for Jackson County residents.
In 1983 the Litwiller Family sold the funeral operation to Timothy and Kathleen Simonsen who have continued their tradition of care. The firm is currently an independent corporation owned by John Yeatman and Guy Saxton with Timothy continuing to manage day to day operations.
In 1994, Mel Friend joined the firm as funeral director and assistant manager. Mel, a life long resident of the Rogue Valley, brings over 35 years of experience to the Litwiller – Simonsen team. Our support staff includes Holli Glossop, Ron Fair, Kathleen, Ivan, and Dorothy Simonsen. We are all dedicated to providing compassionate care for those who have experienced the death of someone close.
