Chamber Music Concerts Presents the London-Based Schubert Ensemble

Chamber Music Concerts (CMC) presents the Schubert Ensemble of London — violin, viola, cello, double bass, and piano — on Friday, February 9 at 7:30pm and Saturday, February 10 at 3pm at the Southern Oregon University Music Recital Hall. Friday’s concert includes music by Hummel, Faure, and Schubert, and Saturday features pieces by Frances-Hoad, Vaughn Williams and Dvorak. Tickets are $33/$38, with a special price of only $5 for full-time students and Oregon Trail Card holders.

In addition to the concerts, the Schubert Ensemble will present an outreach program at Horton Plaza retirement community, and on February 9th at 12:30pm, a free preview/lecture at the SOU Music Recital Hall, which is open to the public. 

Formed in 1983, the London-based Schubert Ensemble is widely recognized as one of the world's leading exponents of music for piano and strings. The ensemble has performed in over 40 different countries, has recorded over 30 critically acclaimed CDs, and is familiar to British audiences through regular broadcasts on BBC Radio 3. In 1998 the was recognized by the Royal Philharmonic Society when it presented the group with the Best Chamber Ensemble Award, for which it was shortlisted again in 2010. In the past few years the Ensemble has enjoyed a busy international schedule, with performances in Bermuda, Canada, the Czech Republic, China, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Romania, Spain, the United Arab Emirates, and the USA. The Ensemble will bring its 35-year career to a close this season, with 50 concerts planned in the UK and abroad, including return visits to Romania and Luxembourg and two tours of the USA.
