March 26 Quilt & Genealogy Talk: “Dora Scheidecker, Master Quilter”
Referring to the Jacksonville Museum Quilters, founder Dora Scheidecker said, “We’re not mere hobbyists or quilting bees. We’re serious.” Adding, probably with a twinkle in her eye, “If you’re a quilter, you’re a nut!” In addition to founding the Quilters, in 1977 she organized quilters to work on projects for the Southern Oregon Historical Society; and, in 1983, Dora was one of the founders of the regional Mountain Stars Quilt’s Guild.
Join Sue Waldron, guest speaker at the March Quilts and Genealogy Talk, and learn more about Dora - master quilter and teacher: her life and her quilts. Three quilts reflecting her influence on the local quilt community – Manzanita of Kanaka Flats, Ashland Railroad Centennial, and Oregon Trail 150 Anniversary – will be on display.
Quilt and Genealogy Talks are free to everyone! March, 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. Jackson County Genealogy Library, 3405 S. Pacific Hwy, Medford. To register call 541-512-2340, email reception.JCGL@gmail.com
