• The THEME for this year’s celebration is “Ashland: Empowering Wellness through Community.” This year, we wanted to highlight our community's efforts to make Ashland a wonderful place to live and work through the power of wellness. Wellness not only means conscious healthy living, but Mind, Body and Spiritual wellness.

This year’s artwork was drawn by contest winner, Jack Wiens – see design attached. Our 2018 4th of July commemorative T-Shirts are available for purchase at our Chamber Fundraising Booth this Saturday, June 30th and Sunday, July 1st, at local Ashland grocery stores and on the 4th at our booth at the entrance to Lithia Park..
Grand Marshalls Mary and Joyce
• 2018 Grand Marshals – The 4th of July Committee and Ashland Chamber Board of Directors voted to honor longtime Ashland residents Joyce Epstein and Mary Mastain. Joyce and Mary truly embody lifelong wellness, community spirit and happiness all while giving back to their community. Both Joyce and Mary have volunteered at the Ashland Chamber for over 20 years and were each named “Volunteer of the Year” at our Annual Dinner Awards Banquet in previous years. o Mary was a former school teacher and believes in the power of learning. She guided Lithia Park Nature Walks for many years and volunteered with the Ashland Public Library, where the Jackson County Public Library Foundation honored Mary with a plaque commemorating her volunteerism last fall.

Joyce is an esteemed poet and believes in the importance of art. She still represents the SOU Schneider Museum of Art each week at the Ashland Chamber Greeters meetings, sharing her love of art with great pride. ▪ Joyce and Mary are not only community leaders but are also dear friends. Friendships are key to happiness and living with true mind, body and spiritual wellness.

▪ With this theme and Grand Marshal selection, we are honored to also honor the many organizations and community members who work daily to make Ashland special. For example, for the 2018-19 year, OLLI (Osher Lifelong Learning Institute) will celebrate their 25th anniversary. We look forward to honoring lifelong learning and continued support our local institutions such as OLLI, Ashland's public and private K-12 schools, higher education (SOU
and RCC), our vocational schools, the Ashland Public Library, local service clubs, Ashland YMCA and more!
