Have you ever wondered how our ancestors got around before the advent of trains? Join us May 19 at the Jackson County Genealogy Library for a free presentation, Stage-coaching in Northern California. Come hear the exciting story of stagecoaches and their fearless Jehus, or stagecoach drivers. According to a quote in the 2008 article, “Those Daring Stage Drivers,” the stagecoach drivers name, Jehu, was “taken from a Biblical quote in the Old Testament, Kings 9:20, ‘and the driving is like the driving of Jehu the son of Nimshi; for he driveth furiously.’ ” What a fitting name for these fearless men, often referred to as “the road warriors of their day.” Can’t you just imagine the Jehu driving his stagecoach at breakneck speeds along the length of the Siskiyou Trail?

What a lively way to spend a Saturday afternoon! May 19, 1:30pm-3pm. Jackson County Genealogy Library, 3405 S. Pacific Hwy, Medford. For information call 541-512-2340, email reception.JCGL@gmail.com, or stop by the library in person. For a complete list of events, visit www.rvgsociety.org
