ScienceWorks Expands Hours with New, Year-Round Schedule
ScienceWorks Hands-on Museum, Southern Oregon’s science center, is expanding the hours it is open to the public and will make its new schedule consistent all 12 months of the year. Beginning May 1st, the new schedule will be Tuesday-Sunday from 10AM-5PM.
In recent years, the museum has varied its schedule seasonally, offering different days/hours in the summer versus the months when local schools are in session. “Our new, year-round schedule will make it easier for our visitors to remember and plan around,” said Erin Scott, Marketing Manager at ScienceWorks. “It’s also simple to advertise.”
The new schedule will provide the public with the equivalent of 16 extra days a year to visit ScienceWorks. It will also provide ScienceWorks’ staff greater opportunity to set-up new programming and exhibits on the one regular day a week the museum is closed to the public year-round.
Two routine exceptions to the new schedule, however, will be school field trips and school holidays: ScienceWorks welcomes roughly 10,000 school children on field trips throughout the year. To accommodate demand, the museum will continue to book field trips on Mondays. In addition, ScienceWorks will continue to open its doors to the public on special public and national holiday Mondays throughout the year, for example Presidents’ Day.
“Over the years, we’ve found that holiday Mondays are very popular for families to come to ScienceWorks,” continued Scott, “so we’ll continue to be open those special Mondays and publicize them to the community.”
ScienceWorks is also available for special events, including facility rentals, during evening hours year-round.
The launch of its new, year-round schedule coincides with ScienceWorks’ opening of an exciting, new major exhibit, Pterosaurs: Ancient Rulers of the Sky. The exhibit opens to the public on Saturday, April 28 and is schedule to run through the end of December.
