Camelot Theatre Presents Spotlight on Julie Andrews with LIVE music by the Camelot Spotlight Orchestra.
“It is not enough to reach for the brass ring.
You must also enjoy the merry go round.” —Julie Andrewsl
Camelot’s first spotlight for its’ 36th Season is Spotlight On Julie Andrews. Born in October of 1935, in England, Julie Andrews was a hit on the English stage before duplicating that success on Broadway, where she received Tony Award nominations for her roles in Camelot and My Fair Lady. She won an Academy Award for playing the title role in Mary Poppins and was also nominated for her performance in The Sound of Music. Andrews later worked on a number of acclaimed films with husband Blake Edwards, and was appointed an English dame in 2000 by Queen Elizabeth II.
Andrews has endured as a popular star of stage and screen for many decades. Camelot Theatre celebrates this musical treasure with Spotlight On Julie Andrews, starring Rose Passione and featuring 22 hits, including “I Could Have Danced All Night”, “On a Clear Day”, “The Sound of Music”, “Edelweiss”, “The Rain In Spain”, “Someone To Watch Over Me” and many others. Also, providing back-up vocals and narration is Eoghan McDowell. Brian O’Connor wrote the script and Presila Quinby directs the production, “Rose Passione is always a joy to work with, there is the sheer magnificence of her abilities on the stage, and Eoghan has proven himself time and again here at Camelot - it’s great to include him in a Camelot Spotlight.” Quinby also notes, “the band is everything I could have dreamed of. These are a bunch of top notch musicians. Combined with our terrific sound and tech crew this is a recipe for a wonderful evening of entertainment.”
The Spotlight Orchestra musicians for Spotlight on Julie Andrews are Tom Freeman on percussion, Dennis Freese on woodwinds, Karl Iverson playing keyboard, Ryan Johnson on bass guitar and Beth Martin on violin.
