Ashland Art Center Fund Raising
Thanks to you, young and old, beginners to pros, can enjoy the benefits of art education – to embrace their creativity, learn a new skill, create community connections, empower self-expression and bring joy and beauty into the world. Literally thousands of artists right here in our community have been nurtured as creatives, entrepreneurs and teachers. We put more than $100,000 into the local community through artists support. We provided music, visual arts, digital arts, and culinary arts education to all the students at Ashland Middle School – more than 1,400 young people! On behalf of them, thank you for giving them these opportunities.
Let me tell you about Thomas. He started attending a kid’s clay class about a year ago and was drawn to wheel-throwing. He had never done it before but was enthusiastic. After a few weeks he was throwing practically on his own. A month later he was able to center his own ball of clay and throw 2-3 pots a class. The teacher saw how quickly he was accelerating and invited him to come to the adult class, which he did. Thomas is extremely skilled and consumed with the wheel. He comes consistently two days a week to throw. We saw the immense potential in him right away. His teacher says, “Mondays are my highlight of the week because I get to see children like this young boy create their visions through clay. He walks away proud and empowered. It is the most rewarding thing to see.” When the family recently needed financial help, Ashland Art Center was able to offer Thomas a scholarship, so he could keep attending class and nurturing his creative skills. The scholarship was made possible by generous donors like you!
Every day, your support makes stories like Thomas’ possible.
Today, we’re launching our 2017 Year-End Campaign. Our goal is to provide a place for all children, regardless of family income, to have access to the academic benefits of art education. We want to be the premier destination for people who want to learn and practice creative and artistic endeavors. We intend to foster a thriving artisan economy where the work of creative people is valued and supported with living wages. You see, even though we supported over 5,000 people last year, there is still more to do. We have big plans, but we can’t expand our programs without the resources to do so.
That’s why our goal for this campaign is to raise $100,000 by December 31st. If we raise that amount, we’ll be able to expand our art education offerings, provide scholarships for low income families, replace needed equipment, maintain our building, and pay our dedicated staff. We need your help to make it happen.
Would you be willing to make a special year-end donation of $50, $100 or whatever you can afford to help us meet our goals?
We simply can’t do it without you. Your support will make a real, lasting impact in the lives of young and old, beginning and professional artists, and to our community.
