ScienceWorks Fund Raiser Features Keenan Wyrobek
ScienceWorks’ annual fundraising luncheon will take place on November 6, 2017 at the Rogue Valley Country Club, in Medford, OR. The annual luncheon includes a preview of upcoming exhibits at the museum and asks the Rogue Valley community to support the Museum as it seeks to serve science education to nine counties throughout Southern Oregon and Northern California.
The luncheon will feature Kingsley Kelley (General Manager, KTVL-TV) as the Master of Ceremonies, with brief statements from founder Sharon Javna, Executive Director Ann Dowdy and the Education staff. Keenan Wyrobek, CTO and co-founder of Zipline International, Inc., will deliver the keynote speech. Wyrobek is admirer and fan of ScienceWorks, having any fond memories of visiting ScienceWorks in his youth. Wyrobek is the recent recipient of a National Geographic Genius Award, and his company is the focus on National Geographic’s video essay “Life in Flight” as part of the Chasing Genius series.
In addition to the speeches and lunch, the attendees have been asked “Who cares about science?” Attendees are encouraged to pledge that they personally care about science, and the need for science education and informal application opportunities for the public at large.
