Garfield Park Complete

The Garfield Park Master Plan is now complete and it’s time to celebrate! Please join Ashland Parks & Recreation Commission (APRC) at GARFIELD PARK on Thursday, July 27, from 1 to 3 p.m. for a Ribbon Cutting Celebration with the Ashland Chamber of Commerce.

Festivities will include kids’ activities, dessert and live music from APRC’s very own Mark Reaves!

Renovations to this well-loved community park include:
·         New Splash Pad
·         New Sand Volleyball Courts with Enclosure and Standards
·         Full-court, Regulation-sized, Resurfaced Basketball Area
·         New Picnic Shelters
·         New Shelter to Support the Cascade-Siskiyou Scenic Bikeway

The project cost was $850,000, funded by Ashland’s Food and Beverage Tax revenues over multiple years. Garfield Park is located on East Main St in between Garfield and California Streets. More on Garfield Park at ashland.or.us/Garfield.

Following the celebration, which we hope will be a zero-waste event so BRING YOUR OWN WATER BOTTLES, be sure to walk over to The Grove to say hello and take a tour of the building. The Grove—located kitty-corner from Garfield Park at 1195 E Main St—is the new ‘home’ of the APRC Recreation Division. What can you do at The Grove? Register for / take a class, pick up a Rec Guide and more!

Learn more about APRC by visiting AshlandParksandRec.org or calling 541.488.5340. We hope to see you on the 27th. “Fun, it’s in Our Nature!”
