Windows in Time Lecture: Michael Hanley an his Friends

Ashland and Medford, Oregon (May 16, 2017) – Join historian Larry Mullaly for a lecture on pioneer rancher Michael Hanley and his friends. This sixth lecture in the Windows in Time local history series will be given Wednesday, June 7 at the Medford Branch Library, 205 South Central Avenue, and Wednesday, June 14 at the Ashland Branch Library, 410 Siskiyou Boulevard, from 12 noon – 1:00 p.m. at both locations.

The name of pioneer rancher Michael Hanley was writ large during the early settlement period of Jackson County. The illustrated presentation places Michael Hanley in the social and business environment of his time, describing his relationships with the broader community during a period of dynamic change, 1852 -1889.  It also describes how much of this legacy is still preserved in the iconic Hanley Farm home near Jacksonville.

Historian Larry Mullaly is a long-time Southern Oregon Historical Society volunteer and host of the monthly Windows in Time series, now in its seventh year. The monthly Windows in Time lectures are offered at no cost to the public and are jointly-sponsored by the Southern Oregon Historical Society and Jackson County Library Services.
