Victorian Christmas at the Beekman House!

We invite you to experience a Victorian Christmas this holiday season at the historic 1870s  Beekman House  Museum, located at 470 E. California Street in
Jacksonville. Home to the  town’s wealthiest and most prominent pioneer family, the house is decorated for a 19th Century holiday celebration. Historic Jacksonville, Inc. will be offering 1-hour tours beginning every 15 minutes between 12n and 3pm every Saturday and Sunday from November 27 through December 19.

Costumed docents will be sharing the Victorian origins of many popular Christmas traditions and observances along with stories of Beekman family holiday festivities in the late 1800s. Tour admission is $5, paid at the door; Bazaar admission is free. Tour groups are limited to 6 people. Masks are required. Reservations are strongly encouraged! They ensure tour day and time and are available at We don’t want people to miss out on finding the good luck German pickle ornament on the Christmas tree. Or stealing a kiss under the mistletoe. Or hearing how Clement Moore and Charles Dickens reinvented the holiday. They can also sample one of Mrs. Beekman’s sugar cookies (safely cello wrapped) and visit Mrs. Beekman’s Christmas Bazaar for that unique holiday gift.
