Dancing People Company (DPC) is Ashland, Oregon's cherished dance company. It is the only professional full-time modern dance group in all of Southern Oregon, so the honor and responsibility of providing first-rate dance performances all year long for our community is significant. Founded in 1994 by artistic director and choreographer Robin Stiehm, Dancing People Company is dedicated to presenting high quality, innovative modern dance that appeals to a wide variety of audiences. Originally based in Minneapolis, the company relocated to Ashland in 2003. The five artists of DPC perform the director’s witty, evocative and entertaining contemporary choreography. Combining fluid movement with strong structure and beautiful partnering, DPC’s work speaks volumes about the human condition.
DPC has performed at prominent venues around the world, including the Mussorgsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, Russia; the International Festival of Contemporary Dance in Poland; the Aichi Auditorium in Japan; and the International Festival of Modern Choreography in Belarus, plus performances throughout Minnesota and Oregon. In the summer of 2012, the company will once again be performing in Russia at the OPEN LOOK International Dance Festival. DPC is proud to represent Southern Oregon and the U.S. at this festival of international dance artists.
