Southern Oregon Pride’s Mission Statement is to promote equality, peace and basic rights for everyone.
We are celebrating our 5th year, and we look forward to another successful one.
We'll start with our Drag Pageant, Thursday, October 9th, at Club Highway 66 at 7:00pm. Ms. SOPride 2013 will crown our new Queen.
Friday, is the kick off dance at the newly named Live at the Armory. This is one of the best and biggest dance parties in Ashland, complete with DJ Hope rock’n the sounds, our fabulous Drag Show, hosted hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar.
Advance tickets are on sale at Paddington Station for $15.00 and $20.00 at the door Friday night.
Saturday, we are taking it to the street for the parade, starting at 11:00am. The parade begins at Union and Siskiyou. We parade down Main Street to Lithia Park’s Band Shell where we will have vendors, live entertainment, food and, most of all, FUN! Oh yes, we would be remiss if we didn’t mention that Gina DuQuenne and Josh Willow will be getting married at the Band Shell.
This year our Grand Marshal is Janelle Wilson, the Executive Director of Southern Oregon University's Queer Resource Center. She has been a true leader at the University and the community for the past eleven years.
Peter Frechette, an award winning actor and the first out actor on television, is our Honorary Grand Marshal. Peter has been a trail blazer in opening minds, hearts, and doors for others.
We believe in giving back to a community that has given so much to us. Each year SOPride gives to a local nonprofit organization. Last year we gave to OSF Deadulus Project. This year we have chosen Peace House.
