An online accounting student writes: "I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for a great learning experience. I have taken numerous online courses, many of which I have felt left in the dark. Yours is not one of them. I especially appreciate your quick response to our questions and concerns."

A management student writes: “I want to take a moment to thank you guys for all that you do. During my time at SOU you taught me the basics of what it takes to run a small business. After several years of staying up late at night (after work) planning my small business, I finally launched it on Feb 12th of this year. The skills I learned in BA 499 (business planning) were essential in almost every step of the business development process. I could not have done it without you guys! I can’t thank you enough!”

The School of Business is committed to preparing students to make a difference in today's dynamic and rapidly changing world. Global competition, emerging technologies and increased communication have dramatically changed the way business is done. As a result, organizations are in greater need of leaders, managers and workers who are flexible, well-educated team players. A degree in Business Administration from SOU offers countless opportunities to build the skills to thrive in this new environment.

What's best about SOU's School of Business?  Small class size ensures high-level interaction with our outstanding teaching faculty. Team projects develop the small group skills that are vital in today's workplace. Case studies provide opportunities to develop critical thinking and analytical skills. Internships offer hands-on experience in diverse local businesses and nonprofit organizations. International exposure comes from students from around the world and study abroad programs. Flexible course scheduling provides programs that are accessible both face-to-face and online. Visit our website for detailed information about undergraduate degree programs and certificates:  www.sou.edu/business

The School of Business also offers seven certificate programs to serve the region, three of which can be completed without the need for a bachelor’s degree (Management of Human Resources, Nonprofit Management and Wine Business).  The most recent addition is the Certificate in Wine Business.  The Wine Business certification provides students with the opportunity to learn many aspects of the wine business from the processes to make, bottle, and sell wine, to sensory evaluation techniques and communication about wine. Students learn business principles to effectively market and promote wine, along with learning management, accounting, and other related skills.

The Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Public Accounting is a unique certificate program suitable for students with a bachelor’s degree in almost any field who wish to prepare for a certification examination in accounting such as the CPA or CMA, and government and industrial accounting.  The certificate may be completed face to face on the Ashland campus or completely online.
The Master of Business Administration (MBA) provides students from a wide range of disciplines with a broad knowledge base in all of the major functions of a business. The curriculum develops managerial skill sets, together with the critical topics of leadership, teamwork, ethics, and effective communication, which are embedded into the program.  SOU’s MBA program features a highly interactive and practical approach to learning.  Students may elect to pursue the degree through a full-time evening program in Ashland or an online program.

Graduates of the School of Business are employed by leading organizations in Southern Oregon and throughout the US west coast.  Through its Small Business Development Center, the School further supports the regional business community through counseling and business support programs for small and growing businesses.
