Now in its 50th season, the Rogue Valley Symphony is a professional regional orchestra serving southern Oregon and northern California. Under the baton of conductor Martin Majkut, the orchestra enriches the lives of the residents of southern Oregon through live performances of symphonic music in the cities of Ashland, Medford and Grants Pass. The 70 musicians annually perform 15 subscription Masterworks concerts and three Holiday concerts, plus an education concert. The orchestra presents concerts at the Southern Oregon University Music Recital Hall in Ashland, the Craterian Theater at the Collier Center in Medford, and the Performing Arts Center in Grants Pass. The Chamber Players, a string quintet from the orchestra, perform for more than 10,000 elementary students each year in school demonstrations throughout the valley. Symphony Classical Coaches visit junior and high schools in the region to provide coaching to young instrumentalists and additional support to band and orchestra teachers. Symphony musicians also visit elementary schools in the Phoenix/Talent School District to give free weekly music lessons to 3rd-5th grade students in a program called Link Up.
